About Us

We are Franciscans, the Order of Friars Minor, founded by St. Francis of Assisi in 1209. We live according to the Rule he wrote, approved by Rome in 1223, which begins, "The Rule and life of the Friars Minor is this, namely, to observe the Holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by living in obedience, without anything of one's own, and in chastity."

As followers of St. Francis, we are dedicated to serving those in greatest need throughout the world. Our Lady of Guadalupe Province, created in 1985 from the St. John the Baptist Province in Cincinnati, has its Provincial House in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with priests assigned to parishes and missions across the state, and in Arizona and Texas.

We invite you to consider partnering with us, whether by a donation, a prayer request, or discerning a vocation to the priesthood or religious life.
